Hi all,
Everyone at The Avenue have excellent. The given and demonstrated throughout has been exceptional. Steve has really excepted most if not all staff really really quickly and that is a first.

Having spent a few days with him last week was really good. I was well looked after too. I am very very surprised I managed to fit all his furniture bar one item (but it got broke during the move.) Into his room. That was thanks to the planning and putting up of shelves etc.

I am really proud of Steve right now and equally proud of the team. This was a really good decision for Steve to make this his home.

The video calls by me are quite funny because I cannot hear or lip read so goodness knows what is being said by Steve and my response must be somewhat off the mark. Once again thank you to all of you.

LD Specialist Practitioner

Hi Isaac,
I feel this has been a really positive move for HW, particularly for her to have her own home and personal space, with opportunities to meet with others in the communal areas of the property, which is really important to prevent potential isolation.  She now has the security of a tenancy and support that is person centred and tailored to meet her individual needs.

The staff have been very respectful of her reluctance to access the community. This has not however,  always been the case for HW, and her current reluctance may stem from the frequent hospital admissions she had during her recent placement, and with which she now associates the use of her wheelchair or vehicle. This is an area I would like  to see the staff team working on, to encourage HW to explore her local community and to begin to use the wheelchair and to associate it with more positive activities and experiences.

The use of HW’s garden has been very positive for her, with considerable thought given to the design and layout to facilitate all year access with the provision of astro turf, and accessibility for HW with raised flower beds and lighting that meets her sensory needs.

I feel that the staff team were very proactive during the transition phase, and worked well with the previous provider and all stakeholders, to facilitate as smooth a transition as possible for HW to her new home.   Communication with commissioners is good and timely, to report any incidents within statutory timeframes and to liaise over any possible changes needed to the package of care. It’s always nice to have communication about the good things that are happening too, so photos and updates are very much appreciated also!

Having worked on a large scale Reprovision Project, where 70 individuals were supported to move from long stay hospital institutions into supported living provisions in the community, I have seen first hand over many years the benefits afforded by the provision of bespoke supported living packages of care. I have therefore very much enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to work with Acorns Healthcare to effect such positive outcomes for a number of individuals with whom I am working, and to see the positive impact these moves have had on their quality of life and level of support.

A  big thank you to all at Acorns Healthcare for the collaborative working and person centred support that you provide.

EMAIL FROM COMMISSIONER

I just wanted to drop a quick email to feedback how impressed I am with the quality of recording, the calm, skilled and consistent approach and most of all the person centered and caring way that you are supporting G.

You have clearly all built up a good trusting relationship with G and your input is so valued by all of us at the CCG.

On a general note can I just say how grateful I am for everyone’s input but particularly to Acorns for giving G not just a place to live but a home and a family. For giving her back her life.

She is returning back to the G who left home 6 years ago to go to college. She is allowed to be herself and do the things that keep her happy and is a far cry from how she’s been looked after todate in the community and in hospital.

She’s enjoying the busy-ness of the flat and having lots of people around which is a million miles away from the documented isolated young lady that she had been forced to become. I can see the care and compassion in every member of staff that supports her without exception regardless of whether they are a favourite or not.

They are an exceptional company who have recognised that to keep her happy she needs variety, a relaxed routine, lots of people and freedom to move around.

Thank you Sue and your team for all your support and hard work.

Regional Trainer ‑ Health & Social

I am a Regional Trainer from Lifetime Training. I have been the trainer for a number of Amanda’s staff and have worked with Amanda to support the learners through their level 2 and level 3 qualifications.

During the 18 months I have been delivering these qualifications to the learners Amanda has been instrumental in providing the support needed for the apprentices to complete their qualifications. Amanda has always showed an interest and has been proactive in finding out how the staff are progressing and has always been willing to support them with their personal and professional development. It is clear that she has a good rapport with her staff team and that they respect her. I have witnessed Amanda supporting staff in their roles by positively encouraging them to take on more responsibilities, improving their confidence and to access new or existing sources of information.

The engagement of the manager in supporting our learners is essential and it is not always the case that a manager is this engaged. Amanda’s support to the learners and myself has helped solve issues very quick and has resulted in excellent results for the staff on apprenticeships.

I have very much enjoyed working with Sue Vaughan over the past few years and would like to wish you every success.

I will always be grateful for your support and expertise in identifying a care pathway for one of my clients. This client transitioned from long term hospital placement to supported living very successfully. This hugely improved this clients quality of life and was only possible because you had a were able to look at the positive outcome and did not dwell on negative aspects.

This was a clear reflection of unconditional positive regard.
